Johanna Cuestas is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. Johanna specializes in mental health services for children, adolescents,  and learning disabilities assessments. 

 Johanna was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. She migrated to the United States where she attended the University of Houston and earned a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. She holds a Master Degree in Counseling and a certification as a Diagnostician. Johanna is currently pursuing a License as a School Psychologist with  Texas A&M – Commerce University.

 Johanna’s career experiences include work as an educator, School Counselor, Diagnostician, and Mental Health Clinician in private practice and for school districts in The State Texas. Johanna is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are:  learning disabilities assessments, grief counseling, family crisis, trauma recovery, depression, anxiety, help with transitions and major life changes, de-escalation techniques, as well as, Trauma Informed Care.

Johanna’s therapeutic approach is holistic integrating different methodologies to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. Johanna is committed to offer best practice standards for outpatient treatment and evidenced based with high levels of professionalism, empathy, and compassion.

At Mariposa’s practice, Johanna is  dedicated and  committed to empower personal growth and healing by teaching clients how to make sense of their unique experiences while learning how to create a more balance life.
